FAQs

  • Why can't I just use plain Hydrogen Peroxide?

    1. The symbiotic relationship between hydrogen peroxide and enhanced ions makes, Peroxsil 20 times more powerful than hydrogen peroxide alone.
    2. Plain hydrogen peroxide has no residual disinfecting properties once a surface has been sanitized.
    3. Neither hydrogen peroxide nor chlorine is effective against bio-film.

  • Why should I be concerned about Bio-Film?

For every pathogenic cell in the water there are 10 000 within the biofilm, and once a biofilm has formed it is 1000 times more resistant to biocides.
It's really important that you read this.

  • What is Peroxsil ?

Peroxsil is a proprietary formula made from a unique blend of hydrogen peroxide and enhanced ions. It is ideal for surface disinfection and water treatment.

  • How does Peroxsil work?

Peroxsil® through its ability to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), which cause widespread oxidative damage to cellular membranes, proteins, and nucleic acids. This is a non-specific mechanism on multiple levels that results in the overall disruption of cellular integrity and function, leading to cell death.

While H2O2 breaks down into water and oxygen (H2O2= H2O+O2) afterwards, minute traces of ions remain on the disinfected surface. These traces are invisible and non-toxic but actively and effectively counteract re-germination.

  • What is so special about Peroxsil ?

Peroxsil effectively kills mold, germs, bacteria and odours alike. It has been proven to be 99.9999% effective and there is no known microbiological resistance to it. Peroxsil is non-harmful to surfaces and leaves no residue behind.

  • What is the shelf life of Peroxsil?

At room temperature, Peroxsil shelf life is 2 years.

  • Is Peroxsil safe and non-toxic?

Yes. Peroxsil has a very low toxicity rating when used at the correct dilutions.

  • Does Peroxsil have a harsh smell, like bleach?

No. Peroxsil is odour-free and clear once diluted.

  • Is Peroxsil environmentally friendly?

Yes. The ingredients in Peroxsil decompose into water and oxygen, and do not contaminate the environment with any toxic by-products.

  • How does Peroxsil compare to other disinfectants?

Superior Efficacy: Peroxsil is a broad-spectrum disinfectant that kills a wide range of bacteria, viruses and fungi. It performs equal to, if not better than, other disinfectants.

Improved Safety: Bleach and other leading disinfectants are carcinogenic (cancer-causing) and mutagenic (mutates genes). They also cause severe eye, skin and lung irritation. Peroxsil contains no toxic ingredients, and is the safer choice for disinfecting.

Seriously consider changing your disinfectant to Peroxsil: Farmers have one of the highest cancer rates of all professions. See the comparison chart and special report.

  • Why use peroxide based products versus chlorine?

There are many advantages of using peroxide versus chlorine for disinfection. In healthcare and surface disinfection applications, Peroxsil ’s peroxide based disinfection products are EPA approved for fogging. By fogging versus spray and wiping, the product reaches every surface in a room whether visible or not and thus minimizes the impact of human labour inconsistencies. These products are effective, odour-free, economical, do not condense or corrode, have a long shelf life and are safe to use around sensitive equipment. Hydrogen peroxide decomposes into oxygen and water and is safe for people and the environment.

Chlorine bleach, while a powerful disinfectant, produces harmful and toxic disinfection by-products. Other issues with chlorinated products include strong odour and corrosion, making them unsuitable for fogging application.

When used in water treatment applications such as drinking water, consumers notice an unpleasant taste and odour. In industrial water treatment applications, the short shelf life and limited efficacy against biofilm create challenges that can be solved with peroxide-based Peroxsil products.

  • What makes Peroxsil different from other hydrogen peroxide biocides?

Peroxsil is a ready-to-use formula that blends hydrogen peroxide and enhanced ions. Hydrogen peroxide is the oxidizing agent and the atomic ions adds a broad-spectrum anti-microbial element to this unique formula. A complex blending process stabilizes the H202 while amplifying the anti-microbial action twenty-fold delivering a formula that behaves completely different than its original ingredients. The result is a radical fluid architecture, a multi-faceted killing mechanism against pathogens, with an extended storage life.

  • Does Peroxsil provide residual disinfecting?

Yes. Peroxsil leaves behind a safe, undetectable layer of ions on surfaces. This helps prevent future contamination of the surface.

  • Is Peroxsil a registered product?

Yes. Peroxsil is registered with the NRCS (NRCS/8054/295864/242)

  • Has Peroxsil been tested?

Yes. Peroxsil has been tested again bacteria, fungi, yeasts & spores for the food, domestic, industrial and medical institutional areas, in accordance with:
    SANS 51276
    SANS 51650
    SANS 53704
